URBAN

WALK-UP STORE

THE OPPORTUNITY

A large convenience store retailer wanted to expand into new urban locations - some without the ability to offer fuel. The goal was to create a completely new urban non-fuel store prototype. The challenge - design, build and install a convenience store layout into 1/5th the typical convenience store footprint size. Plus, offer the optimal assortment of items, fresh food and services consumers wanted. The retailer found and selected a store space within a historic building site.

THE SOLUTION

Performance partnered with the retailer to understand their goals and KPIs for this new store. Performance went to work building new modular cabinets that could be rearranged- depending on store offerings. Displays were customized for maximum usefulness. Because merchandising space was so limited, these multi-functional displays utilized every inch of counter space. Since the store occupied an historic site- floors and walls were sometimes uneven but couldn’t handle normal fasteners. Performance developed specialized cabinets with adjustable leg levers to avoid any hard fasteners into the floors or walls.
