THE OPPORTUNITY

A major convenience store retailer designed a completely new store format to greatly enhance the consumer experience. They needed to physically visualize the actual flow and function of their new store layout.

THE SOLUTION

They turned to the experts at Performance which quickly went to work solving this challenge. Performance knew the only way for the customer to “touch and feel” the store layout was to build a life-size store replica. Performance partnered with the retailer mapping out the new store sales floor to scale. Performance built complete millwork packages, installed planogram sets and equipment for review by senior leadership, category managers and experts. Performance used specialized retail tracking software (Bluebeam) to capture feedback, gain insights and create a consolidated reports on store functionality, spatial design and traffic flows. This resulted in informed fact-based decision making leading to optimal store design and function.

Performance was able to drive cost reduction of 18% on their millwork packages and substantially reduce lead times by over 10% vs. previous estimates. The result was a new store layout design that was vetted and optimized for scalability and speed-to-market.
